Poll advisory council picks OMR for 2013

The Comelec Advisory Council (CAC) has officially recommended to the country’s elections body the adoption of Optical Mark Reader (OMR) technology in the 2013 elections.

In an exclusive interview with Louis Napoleon Casambre, executive director of the Information and Communications Technology Office (ICTO) and chair of the CAC, said the council has already sent two resolutions to the Comelec recommending the use of OMR technology.

There I was doing a virtual version of a “prone” position. My peripheral vision was clear and I was moving slowly so the ruffled grass and leaves won’t give my position.

ICTO holds first press briefing with guns blazing

For the first time since being constituted in July last year, the Information and Communications Technology Office (ICTO) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) formally held its first press conference on Monday to present its plans and strategies for the local ICT industry.

Telecom relay system for speech, hearing impaired sought

A lawmaker is pushing for the creation of a telecommunications relay system that would provide equitable basic access to the telecommunications network for persons with hearing, speech, or dual sensory disabilities.

Rep. Bernadette Herrera-Dy, of party-list group Bagong Henerasyon, filed House Bill 5670 to give persons with hearing, speech, or dual sensory impairments access to basic telecommunications services at a cost no greater than that paid by other telecommunications services customers.

The cost of specialized telecommunications equipment shall be borne by all the telecommunications customers, according to the bill.
