In a bid to speed up the country’s notorious business registration procedures, Pres. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III on Friday led the unveiling of a Web-based system that will serve as a “one-stop shop” for entrepreneurs who want to register their businesses.

Called the Philippine Business Registry System (PBRS), the online site integrates the services of all agencies involved in registering a business, including the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), SSS, Pag-IBIG Fund, and Philhealth.

The integrated system, according to Malacanang, has a physical version at the DTI regional office in Makati City which Aquino visited for the launch.

“The PBRS provides a one-stop-shop, whether online or at a single office: A process that once would have taken days, could now be accomplished in a matter of minutes,” a government statement said.

Abigail Valte, deputy presidential spokesperson, said the launch of the PBRS represents a significant stride in the administration’s efforts to streamline government processes and reduce red tape.

“Furthermore, this system means a level playing field for investors and entrepreneurs, and both SMEs and corporations will find that it is now easier to set up shop in the Philippines,” Valte said.

The government did not reveal the cost of the project and the contractor who implemented it.
