The Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) in partnership with Accenture and ABS-CBN Bayan Academy recently held a two-day training for BiD entrepreneurs.
Sixteen small and medium enterprises (SMEs) owners took part in the training held last November 28-29, 2011 in Manila to hone their abilities in self mastery and critical thinking.
They also went through series of lectures and workshops on market, operations, people, and financial assessment, and investing.
The entrepreneurs are either winners or finalists of the Business in Development (BiD) Challenge Philippines, an annual business plan competition for innovative business ideas that combine poverty reduction and profit.
The winner of the BiD Challenge will receive a grant to materialize their business plan and set up their business. The course will help the participants to further enhance their enterprises.
The entrepreneurship course was mentored by Prof. George Quitoriano and Prof. Estrelita Chavez-Catacutan, faculty members of the ABS-CBN Bayan Academy. It was sponsored by Accenture through their global corporate citizenship, “Skills to Succeed”, program.
Another training will be conducted at Davao City on February 21-23, 2012 for BiD enterprises located in the Visayas and Mindanao.
“Accenture will be here to provide the grant, and if there are partnerships we can do to provide training and, or give assistance to selected entrepreneurs. The selection process will be handled by PBSP,” said Nescel Asuncion, senior executive of Accenture Philippines.
The grant amounting to P3.49 million is being utilized by PBSP to set up and manage training development programs for promising entrepreneurs in the country.
