Nokia has announced the local availability of the new Nokia Asha, a touch and type device that is also one of the first mobile phones to offer Angry Birds pre-installed.

The Nokia Asha 300 gives fast 3G access to the Internet and thousands of apps in the Nokia Store. The Series 40 phone has a 5 megapixel camera for taking photographs, which can then be organized and edited in the Nokia gallery before being uploaded to online communities such as Facebook.

Music lovers can enjoy the Nokia Asha 300’s music player, built-in FM radio and Bluetooth connectivity. It supports up to 32GB MicroSD mobile memory cards.

The Nokia Asha 300, which has a suggested retail price of P4,890, comes in white, red, and graphite colors.

“Our latest smart feature phone, the Nokia Asha 300, is one of Nokia’s lowest cost 3G phones,” said Dharmesh Goshalia, general manager and head of sales at Nokia Philippines.

“This again shows our commitment to bringing great experiences to people with different needs –from consumers to business users.”

The Nokia Asha 300 also features the new Nokia Browser for Series 40, which was specifically developed to offer locally relevant features and content.

Nokia Philippines also revealed that more and more Filipinos are accessing the Internet on feature phones using the Nokia browser.

Responding to this growing need of Filipino mobile users and as part of its strategy to connect the next billion around the world, Nokia introduced the Nokia Browser for feature phone which is built on a server-based architecture.

It processes Web content and compresses the amount of data traffic, enabling a faster, more affordable way to access the Internet than browsers in other non-Nokia devices.

Aside from Nokia Asha 300, the Nokia Browser is preloaded on the Nokia C2-03, Nokia Asha 303, and Nokia Asha 200 devices. It is also downloadable from the Nokia Store for most feature phones.
