ILOILO — Three Malaysian nationals were arrested by security officers of a mall here while in the act of stealing money through the use of the Automated Teller Machine (ATM) scheming device.
Those arrested were identified as Tan Bon Fooi, Ching Seng Jun, and Chang Yong.
According to intelligence operatives, the suspects installed a camera at the ATM booth near the entrance of the supermarket section at the lower ground floor of SM City located along the Diversion Road in Mandurriao district.
The suspects then used the camera to view and copy the personal identification numbers (PIN) of the ATM cards of clients who withdrew money from the bank facility.
The security personnel said this could be the reason why there were a number of ATM card holders who complained on unexplained deductions in their ATM account recently.
Also recovered from the suspects were digital cameras and various ATM cards.
The three Malaysian nationals are presently detained at the Mandurriao Police Station in Mandurriao district pending the filing of appropriate criminal charges against them. — PNA
