[/caption] Executives of PLDT Home, the group in charge of the carrier?s consumer services, made the pronouncement during the launch of all-new dual-core version of the Telpad at the Whitespace in Makati City on Tuesday, July 23. ?Since the launch of the Telpad, we?ve been doubling our growth every year. This year, we expect to hit 100,000, so next year we targeting to reach 200,000,? said Patrick Tang, PLDT head of Home Voice Solutions. Ariel Fermin, head of PLDT Home Business, said the company is positioning the Telpad as the third screen in the homes along with the TV and PC. With its Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system (OS), the new dual-core Telpad now has faster processing speed with its 1.6GHZ Cortex A9 dual core processor, and 1GB of RAM. It also has HDMI capability with a display that has wider viewing angles and lower power consumption, as well as brighter IPS (In-Plane Switching) screen. It also functions similar to a hard drive with its capability to transfer files directly to PC via USB cable and vice-versa. With Bluetooth 3.0 +EDR, it likewise allows faster transfer of files. The Telpad also supports many video formats, plays high-resolution videos with video playback of 6 hours and standby time of 180 hours. The dual-core Telpad has three core content pillars: communication, entertainment, and social media. First among the communication tools available on the new dual-core Telpad is the hey? application, an exclusive, all-in call service app that allows PLDT subscribers to make free calls from hey? to hey?. Telpad subscribers can register up to five numbers they can call using their device through hey?. The first number they register is free with the succeeding numbers charged at P75 each. It also provides subscribers the lowest PLDT rates for international calls and for calls made to Smart, Sun and Talk n? Text. The dual-core Telpad has also enhanced its entertainment content. PLDT Home has partnered with Smart Music to allow Telpad music-lover subscribers to access and download more than three million tracks in MCA Music?s global catalog. Among international artists in the catalog include Rihanna, Maroon 5 and Taylor Swift. New dual-core Telpad subscribers can download up to five songs free until September 2013. If they wish to get their favorite tracks, they can download it through the built-in ?Smart Music? application for as low as P15 per track. New releases can be downloaded at P20 each track. Families can also share and watch blockbuster Hollywood movies with Clickplay, the country?s first online movie-streaming website that currently maintains a selection of movies-on-demand from Warner Studios. Subscribers will be able to watch a number of free movies per month depending on the plan they?ve subscribed to. Online video game enthusiasts will also enjoy EA Games, another multimedia content added to the latest dual-core Telpad. Subscribers are provided with free two premium games that can be downloaded until July 15 next year. Subscribers can download from a premium selection of EA games that include Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, Mass Effect Infiltrator and Bejeweled 2. ]]>
