The tech company also appointed Lyndon Lacanienta as its country manager for the Philippines. Lacanienta was a former country manager of database firm Teradata.

?According to the Global Web Index, the Philippines has the fastest growing Internet population in the world, having seen 531 percent growth in the last five years. The country also continues to see strong economic growth, making it a prime target for cybercriminals. Our new office not only positions us for further growth, but also allows us to better serve the increasing needs of enterprises and services providers in multiple industries across the country,? Lacanienta said in statement.

The company said the opening of the local office underscores its decision to strengthen presence in the Philippines to address growing demand for Palo Alto Networks enterprise security offerings in the market.

?[I]t is an opportune time to enhance support for customers by establishing an official base of operations,? it said.

Palo Alto Networks said its customer base in the country cuts across a wide range of industries, including telecommunications, financial services, retail, energy, utilities, education, manufacturing, healthcare, hospitality, media and entertainment, and the public sector.

The company marked its venture into the Philippine market via a launch event themed Next Generation Datacenter Security on Friday, April 24 at the Makati Shangri-La with over 100 guests in attendance.

The program included technology sessions, customer presentations and a panel discussion on next-generation cybersecurity solutions.

In Asia Pacific, Palo Alto Networks is headquartered in Singapore, with offices in Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand.

The Asia Pacific headquarters was launched last year, along with a cybersecurity lab, designed to help companies combat cybersecurity threats across Asia Pacific, including the Philippines.

?Palo Alto Networks is a fast-growing security company with more than 22,500 customers globally. Our company continues to see tremendous growth in Asia Pacific driven by the increasing demand for our disruptive and unique enterprise security offerings that prevent rather than simply remediate cybersecurity threats. We see the same demand for enterprise-grade security in the Philippines and are delighted to expand our business in the country,? said Steve Redman, vice president for Asia Pacific at Palo Alto Networks.
