6 nations to join 2nd PH International Science Fair

The Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Science High School (DOST-PSHS) System, in partnership with First Pacific Leadership Academy (FPLA) will host the 2nd Philippine International Science Fair (PISF) which will take off this coming June 1, 2015 in? Antipolo City.

To date, six countries namely Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and Sweden have confirmed their participation with three student participants from each country. Sixteen science-oriented high schools from the Department of Education and the 12 PSHS campuses will also be participating in the fair.

This five-day, biennial event, which will run from May 31 up to June 4, aims to promote a culture of science with the theme, ?Innovate to Mitigate.?

DOST secretary Mario G. Montejo and FPLA President Roy Evalle, other DOST key officials and selected partner institutions will be gracing the event.

The PISF hopes to touch on the integrity of the environment, and on climate change. Having experienced difficulties brought about by climate change, the student-participants will conduct studies and come up with mini-projects on prevention, adaptation, mitigation and rescue initiatives on disaster management.

All these activities will be done through workshops with invited experts and study tours focusing on Lake Management, Urban Planning and Agricultural Development.
