Acer targets Pinoy yuppies with new line of smartphones

Acer Philippines has launched in the country its new line of smartphones aimed primarily at young office workers and professionals.

The launch, held with much fanfare, took place last October 22 at the Metrowalk Tent at the Ortigas Center in Pasig City.

Gracing the event was Taipei-based and Acer president for smart devices ST Liew, who had earlier that day flown to Manila from another business trip in Tokyo.

The hoopla accompanying the launch indicated that the new smartphones, dubbed as the Professional Series, have been positioned as affordable devices suited to the lifestyles of young, urban professionals and other white collar workers in the country.

The new smartphone models were the following: Acer Liquit 2330, Acer Liquid 2330, Acer Liquid 2530, Acer Liquid 2630, and Acer Liquid X2.

The new smartphones were presented through a ?slice-of-life? skit that depicted young professionals about to board a public utility van that would take them to their offices by way of Edsa.

The dialogues between the young office workers as well as professionals with the van barker in the skit showed how the new smartphone models could relieve them of the stresses encountered daily while on their way to work.

The dialogues also depicted how in spite the stresses brought about by commuting and pressures at the office, the new smartphones would enable them to thrive in their chosen lines of work.

Among the product details highlighted was the fact that the Acer Liquid 2330 offered a DTS Studio Sound feature, enabling users to better enjoy listening to music or watching videos by way of smartphones while commuting in the traffic-congested streets of Philippine urban centers.

On the other hand, among the product features highlighted in the presentation of the Acer Liquid 2530 was the 16 GB memory that gave larger storage for documents vital to users? office jobs or professional work.

At the same time, among the product features highlighted in the presentation of the Acer Liquid 2630 was its battery life allowing up to 10 hours of talk time.

The top of the line model in the series, the Acer Liquid X2, was presented as having triple SIM support to enable users to avail of various options by telco providers.

It also had a 1.3 GHZ octa-core processor even as it had a battery life of 4000 mAH.
At the media briefing following the launch, Acer Philippines managing director Manuel Wong told reporters that each of the new smartphone models was at least P1,000 less in retail price when compared to competing models.

He said this was in line with Acer?s thrust in the Philippines to offer quality but affordable devices to target markets.
