The trips shared by these riders resulted in the reduction of 64,000 kilograms of carbon dioxide, saved 27,200 liters of fuel, and reduced travel by 578,000 kilometers, Uber said.

Manila is one of 40 global cities where uberPOOL is available.

Uber Philippines general manager Laurence Cua expressed elation with the output of the endeavor. ?We are excited to share that with uberPOOL, we are able to get more people into fewer cars, and show how carpooling positively helps decongest our roads and environment positively.?

Cua added, ?We at Uber would like to thank our partner-drivers for helping us inform the public about our newest product during this period. And of course, we are also grateful to our riders who chose uberPOOL and shared their cars with others who are going to the same direction. Let?s continue what we started so together, we can eventually defeat traffic.?
