PH kids capture 35 medals in Indonesia math and science contest

Grade school pupils from the Philippines won 35 medals in an international math and science contest held in Tangerang City, Indonesia.

The students took home 4 gold, 14 silver and 17 bronze medals in the 13th International Mathematics and Science Olympiad for Primary School 2016 (IMSO) held from Nov. 9-13, according to Isidro Aguilar, team leader and president of the Mathematics Trainers Guild-Philippines (MTG).

Indonesian President Joko Widodo graced the opening ceremony of the contest.

The contestants came from Brunei Darussalam, Bulgaria, China, India, Indonesia, Iran, Hong Kong, Kazakhstan, Laos, Lebanon, Malaysia, Mongolia, Netherlands, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, South Africa, South Korea, Thailand, Tajikistan, Taiwan, and Vietnam.
