Anthony Chua, territory channel manager for the Philippines and Singapore at Kaspersky Lab Southeast Asia, led the launch in Makati City of the Kaspersky Internet Security 2017 suite, which carries enhanced data protection features.

Chua noted that Filipinos as being heavy mobile and Internet users, as well as being known as one of the world’s most active social media users.

“Through social engineering or hacking of the human mind, careless and unaware Filipinos could be easy prey for cyber-criminals,” said Chua.

He added that Internet users should keep security in mind at all times and likewise, just as important, to behave carefully online.

Chua said Kaspersky Lab’s products have participated in many independent tests. “We want to protect the world. We are not here just to earn,” he said.

Kaspersky Lab is positioning the Internet Security 2017 suite as a solution for the whole family as it protects Windows, Mac, and Android operating systems against malware, dangerous sites, online tracking, fraud, and money theft.

Through its Secure Connection feature, the solution protects users when connecting to unsafe public Wi-Fi spots, including while traveling as it encrypts all data sent and received through network.

Secure Connection “is especially important when performing financial operations, authorization on sites, or transferring confidential information, as in these cases traffic interception by a stranger could cause users serious losses,” the company said.

A study conducted by Kaspersky Lab showed every fifth (18%) user has fallen victim to cyber-criminals during their travel.

The Software Updater, meanwhile, can automatically find the applications that need to be updated, which it installs upon users’ approval.

On the other hand, the Software Cleaner scans all applications installed on the computer and identify any app that poses potential risk. Kaspersky Lab’s study pointed to 37% of users storing programs that they do not use on their gadgets.

The security suite’s other improved functions include Safe Money, Application Manager, and Anti-Banner which blocks advertising banners.

Also at the launch was Marilen C. Young, consumer sales and marketing manager of local distributor iSecure Networks, who said they are offering a promotion where lucky buyers can win either of three prizes: P100,000 first prize; P50,000 second prize; and P25,000 third prize.

She said the contest rules can be found inside every box of the latest version of the Kaspersky Internet Security suite.

The promo started in October this year and will end in January 2017. “Customers can join the promotional offer through text message,” Young added.
