In fact, the company broke ground for two of their new campuses on the same day — morning and afternoon — on Tuesday, May 23, in Sta. Mesa, Manila, and in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan.

STI Education Services Group chair Eusebio Tanco and CEO Monico Jacob led other STI executives and local officials in the ceremonies in the two aforementioned locations.

In an interview, Jacob said the expansion started a few years back as the institution wants to provide the best facilities for its students like state-of-the-art computer laboratories that can help in their learning process,

“We are preparing for school year 2018-2019 because our government is already implementing the K-12 curriculum,” said Jacob.

Manila vice mayor Maria Sheillah ?Honey? Lacuna-Pangan said STI’s third campus in Manila is ?another milestone?

The 10-storey Sta. Mesa academic center, worth at P655 million, will be built on a 4,252-square meter property along P. Sanchez Street corner Pat Antonio Street.

On the other hand, the nine-storey STI campus in San Jose del Monte has a value of around P518 million. It will rise on a 4,178-square meter lot area at the Altaraza Town Center, a 109-hectare master-planned urban community of the Ayala Land located along Quirino Highway.

STI’s eight new academic centers for 2017, in anticipation of the 2018-2019 academic year, are in Tanauan, Batangas; Lipa, Batangas; Pasay-Edsa (Pasay City along Epifanio delos Santos Avenue); Sta. Mesa; Manila; San Jose del Monte, Bulacan; Davao City (for groundbreaking next week); and two others whose locations have not been revealed yet.

The Sta. Mesa campus is being built to accommodate 10,000 senior high school and college students while the campus in San Jose del Monte can accommodate 6,000 students.

Founded in 34 years ago, STI is gearing up for the expected influx of college freshmen in the 2018-2019 school year as demonstrated by the building of the eight new campuses. Construction of three of them — in Tanauan, Lipa, and Pasay-Edsa ? is now ongoing.

STI president and COO Peter Fernandez assured the academic center’s continuing efforts to upgrade its facilities.

“Our expansion strategy reflects our strong commitment to education. Just like what we have done in the past, we are building new academic centers to transfer existing schools to bigger and better facilities as part of our approach to holistic education,” Fernandez said.

The eight new campuses are expected to start operating next school year and will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including air-conditioned classrooms that feature flat screen TVs, industry-grade laboratories, simulation classrooms, up-to-date libraries, and sports facilities, among others.

STI?s new campuses will also come with environment-friendly features, including energy-saving LED lights, a rainwater harvesting system, and a sewage treatment plant for recycling of used water by discharging treated wastewater.

Fernandez pointed out STI’s decision to shift its focus to a more organic expansion by continuously improving its facilities, including the delivery of education for its students through a highly conducive learning environment.

With start of the K-12 program, STI has embraced the senior high school program to develop college-ready and job-ready individuals. It also shifted to an outcome-based education (OBE) curriculum as it prepare students for the 21st century.

As this early as this year, STI is also already gearing up for its 35th founding anniversary in 2018. The academic institution started on August 21, 1983 as a computer training center with only two branches.
