Samsung brings Surface Pro clone Galaxy Book to local shores

Consumer electronics giant Samsung has introduced in the country the Samsung Galaxy Book – a 2-in-1 workbook that looks like the Microsoft Surface Pro and carries the Windows 10 operating system instead of Android.

With the Microsoft Office Suite on board, the Galaxy Book comes with a full-keyboard case and S Pen, which is capped by a 0.7mm pen tip and high-pressure sensitivity to allow a realistic writing experience. The laptop-tablet hybrid also wears an all-metal body at 8.99mm thinness and 648-gram heft.

As mentioned, the Samsung opts out of the Nougat circle and chooses the Windows 10 OS to run the Galaxy Book, forcing them to cross swords with their own Galaxy Tab S3 and Galaxy TabPro S.

This also means that the Galaxy Book houses PC components instead of mobile chipsets, listing specs such as:

  • Processor: Intel Core m3-7y30 @ 1.00 GHz (4 CPUs)
  • Memory: 4GB RAM
  • DirectX version: DirectX 12
  • Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 615 2GB memory
  • Resolution: 1920 x 1080 (Full HD)

The Samsung Galaxy Book is now available at Samsung Experience Stores at P44,990.
