Summit gives birth to PH chapter of Cloud Security Alliance

The Cloud Security Alliance (CSA), an organization that aims to promote the efficient use of cloud technology, has officially launched its Philippine chapter during a recent summit held at Okada Manila in Paranaque City.

During the CSA Philippines Summit last July 11, the group explained the importance of cloud in the digital transformation of the Philippines.

“What CSA is doing is it pushes the boundary. It shows that the country is able to adapt to the cloud, (that) this is how good the cloud is. By educating the young minds in colleges so that’s when it’s their time, they will have better cloud environment in the Philippines,” RSA principal malware scientist Christopher Elisan said.

CSA APAC market strategy director Anthony Lim emphasized that data on the cloud is still the responsibility of people using the technology. CSA Philippines chair Ryan Ty mentioned that their group advocates safety in the cloud and in mobile applications.

Partners have joined the CSA to promote the use of cloud technologies, to help other technological companies, and to mark a milestone in the cloud industry in the Philippines.

“The Philippines as a country is now embracing cloud as a solution. Gone are the days that we were in dark ages [using] the traditional way of putting up data centers. Now companies have realized what would be the potential benefits of moving to the cloud,” National Bookstore ICT director Gary Calantuan Jr. said.
