The Philippine unit of Germany?s Siemens Healthcare has expressed its long-term commitment to the country, saying that it will continue to help deliver better outcomes for patients at lower costs.
?We are here for the long term,? Mike Tan, president of Siemens Healthineers Philippines, said at the sidelines of the 16th Annual Hospital Management Asia (HMA) 2017 in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City last August 23.
The company has been in the country since 1894, he said, adding that ?we have been through Martial Law, through everything, we are still here.?
Currently, the German conglomerate is leveraging technology and digitization, which play an integral role in improving healthcare.?The company provides imaging services and equipment for the Philippine market.
?We have X-Ray, we have Ultra Sound, we have CT Scan, MRI, Radiation Therapy,? he said, adding that their equipment can be found in all major private and public hospitals.
Locally, it maintains offices in Manila, Davao, Cebu, Iloilo, and a satellite office in San Fernando, Pampanga. It employs more than 100 Filipinos ? about half of which are engineers ? who repair all the equipment deployed in hospitals.
?You sell it, you fix it. You always think of your patient. You are dealing with healthcare, you are not dealing with water, you are dealing with lives and that is where we come in,? Tan said. ?We do not sleep until something is fixed, again, commitment.?
The briefing was also attended by Elizabeth Staudinger, president of Siemens Healthineers Asia Pacific;?Enno Nehrbass, head of digital health services, Siemens Healthineers APAC; and Tan.
?We are on the journey of transforming the way healthcare is delivered,” Staudinger said, adding that Siemens is leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The company is “pioneering digitization in healthcare [to] deliver more value to patients” as she noted the “disruptive forces throughout the industries.”
The Siemens executive also discussed what the company dubbed ?teamplay,? a cloud-based network giving access to the metrics from healthcare providers own imaging fleet of imaging data.
?Teamplay? provides, among others, near real-time data insights; help standardize workflow and quality of care; resulting in a balance of business and patient satisfaction.
