Japan made the pledge after a ceremonial switch-on on Wednesday, Jan. 10, of PTV’s official migration to the Japanese digital TV standard ISDB-T.

Japan minister for internal affairs and communications Seiko Noda and Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) secretary Martin Andanar led the ceremonial switch-on at PTV’s station in Quezon City.

Noda noted that the Japanese digital broadcasting platform is particularly helpful during calamities because it has an emergency notification system.

Andanar said the magnitude of the technological infrastructure improvement is as comprehensive as connecting the provinces and municipalities in the country.
