Nokia 5, Nokia 6 to get Android Oreo update

Following Nokia 8’s upgrade to Android 8.0 Oreo, HMD Global announced on Monday, Feb. 12, the arrival of the latest Android operating system update for Nokia 5 and Nokia 6.

Both smartphones will be automatically updated. The latest Android version update will soon be available to other Nokia smartphone units.

Latest Android OS, Oreo, will be automatically updated to Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 starting Feb. 12

The Android Oreo upgrade gives users a secure smartphone experience with no changes in the user interface. The new upgrade also has no pre-installed apps for faster waking time when picking the smartphone.

Included in the package, Google Play Protect keeps the device and data safe from misbehaving apps by scanning more than 50 billion apps a day — a safe smartphone experience even from uninstalled apps.

The”picture-in-picture” mode gives users the power to multitask by allowing access to two apps at once. This feature shrinks videos to a little window for freedom to scroll through other apps while using video applications.

Nokia 5 features a 5.2-inch display and an aluminum body with round edges. High quality photos and full HD videos at 30 frames per second (fps) are shot in this smartphone with its 13-megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED flash.

Nokia 6, meanwhile, offers a larger 5.5-inch 1920 x 1080-pixel IPS LCD display held in a pure metal frame. The device’s 16-megapixel rear camera is geared with phase detection technology, while the front camera is at 8 megapixels. Sound is powered with Dolby Atmos surround sound technology.

Both smartphones run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor.

The Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 are priced at P9,990 and P11,990, respectively, and are available at authorized Nokia dealers in the country. Tying-up with global consumer finance provider Home Credit, these smartphones are for grabs at 0% interest for 6 months.
