The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has revealed that it has developed a number of productivity tools to automate and simplify the operations of agencies that will implement Gov.PH, which is being rebuilt as a single website for government data, information, and online services.
Among the tools that are now available for use by government agencies, according to the DICT, are applications for portal management, data cleaning, collaboration, creation of forms, process management, and business analytics. These applications will be introduced to government agencies and stakeholders in a series of training, workshops and seminars that will be carried throughout the year, the DICT said.
The aim is to enable and equip them with the necessary tools and skills to make Gov.PH the go-to website for everything about the Philippine government. The effort is part of the National Government Portal (NGP) project of the DICT, which was launched in June last year.
A beta version of Gov.PH is currently online with limited services. When fully operational, the portal will feature all services of the whole government, including data and information sharing.
To prepare agencies for the full roll-out of the portal, the DICT said it will hold an orientation seminar on the tools developed under the Government Common Platform, the backbone of Gov.PH.
Aside from the training on the applications, the project will also conduct an Executive Lecture Series for government chief information officers (CIOs), technical personnel, and decision-makers from various sectors and organizations to update them on recent innovations in ICT, standardize operations, and institutionalize knowledge-sharing in public service.
Local government units, civil society organizations and the Philippine Software Industry Association are also expected to take part in the lecture series. There is also a technical training for agency developers.
