Check This App | AccuWeather tells you when to bring umbrellas

We don’t really know which weather app is the most accurate, but we think we found the one that’s most useful for the average person who just wants to know when to bring umbrellas or when it’s best to just stay home.

On Google Play, AccuWeather ? which features local weather forecasts and live alerts ? has earned the Editor’s Choice tag. It is a well-deserved distinction.

AccuWeather pinpoints your location via GPS and then gives you the lowdown on what’s happening around you. For one, it alerts you on possible flooding in your area. As seen in the screengrabs, We tested the app while we were in Barangay Don Bosco in Para?aque City, Metro Manila.

AccuWeather has a simple interface, but it has enough bells and whistles to excite weather geeks. It shows the humidity index and wind speeds. It also has hourly or daily weather graphs, which, we confess, we don’t really understand too well.

Among the features we love about the app is the option to configure it to remind you to bring a jacket or umbrella. It also has a health-related alert, which clearly has to be refined further since there’s a leptospirosis outbreak in some areas of Metro Manila. Then again, we can’t really complain about the allergy alert.

If we had to nitpick, we’re very confused by the “News” section of the app. We expected weather-related news. Instead, it’s just random stories.

Overall, we love the app and will probably use it regularly, especially during the rainy months. The app is free on Google Play. If you want to disable the ads, then that’s when you have to pay. Then again, the ads are more or less bearable. When you think of it, that is a small price to pay for a nifty weather app.
