The project aims to collect old and broken mobile phones, tablets, mp3 players, chargers, and other e-waste for proper disposal and recycling. Metals from these electronic gadgets will be used to build schools in Marawi under Globe’s Global Filipino School Program.

“There are few players doing proper hazardous waste disposal and we are happy to do our part,” said Yoly Crisanto, senior vice president of corporate communications at Globe Telecom. “Project 1 Phone encourages everyone to give their old devices and electronic gadgets one last wonderful, that is, for recycling, this time to help rehabilitate and build schools for the children of Marawi.”

Craig Reines, chief operating officer for Sitel – Asia Pacific, said Project 1 Phone initiative is consistent with Sitel’s philosophy of combining corporate social responsibility with countryside development.

“Our focus for 2018 is creating a sustainable environment and building resilient communities. Through this partnership our over 22,000-strong Sitel workforce will not only get the chance to participate in proper e-waste disposal and recycling, but will also contribute to accelerating progress in the countryside, where they are most needed.”
