The Caraga Administrative Region or Region 13 is set to host a national information and communications technology (ICT) conference this September aiming to gather hundreds of digital champions for the countryside.

The hosts this year are the Caraga ICT Council and the Caraga Federation of ICT Councils all chaired by Butuan councilor Cherry May Busa in collaboration with the city government of Butuan, the National ICT Confederation of the Philippines (NICP) and the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT).

The 3rd Mindanao ICT Conference (MINCON) on September 25 to 26 this year, to be held at Almont Inland Resort and Convention Center in Butuan City, is a flagship program of NICP under its vision to share best practices and showcase the potential of the regions for ICT investments.

The conference will highlight the brightest ICT development and the newest innovation platform in the ICT industry under the theme “Brite Mindanao: Building Resources Toward ICT-Based and Techonology Driven Ecosystem In Mindanao”.

Busa said their council looks forward to showcase Caraga and Mindanao ICT initiatives, to convene ICT stakeholders and work cohesively to achieve an ICT ecosystem that will redound to the economic growth in the region and develop ICT learners to prepare the next generations for the future of work.

As the administrative center of Caraga, Butuan is poised to create more jobs and opportunities from the growing ICT industry to address the economic situation of the region.
