This year’s edition will kick off with the Game Development Summer Program set for May 6 to 10.  Grade 11 or 12 students who are game developer wannabes are sure to have a memorable and fun-filled summer learning about the basics of game development and combining elements of design, programming, and art.

Participants may choose between two tracks under the program: Game Programming or Game Arts. They will work in teams alongside programmers and artists and are expected to create a simple game by the end of the workshop.

Organized by the DLSU College of Computer Studies and Ubisoft Philippines, the Game Development Summer Program will also include industry talks and game jam events.

Data analytics takes centerstage at the Continuing Professional Education on Data Analytics and Spatial Econometrics Program from May 9 to 12. It will cover data mapping and spatial econometric modelling and its applications in economics and social sciences.

The workshop will include laboratory activities on the application of the models using R, Stata, and GeoData software. The program is co-sponsored by the Regional Science Association International under its Nurturing Talent Program, endorsed by the Philippine Economic Society.

Next in the calendar is the Workshop on Impact Evaluation Design and Methods, scheduled from May 13 to 20. Through the workshop which will also include laboratory sessions, participants will learn the different impact evaluation designs and gain theoretical, econometric and practical skills in designing, conducting and managing impact evaluations, among others.

The workshop will cover sample size calculation, randomization designs, mechanics of randomizing, basic commands, basic programming, statistics in STATA, quasi-experimental methods, data management, regression analysis, and analysis of survey data and others.

Data science follows with the Summer School on Data Science to run from May 14 to 18. Participants will have hands-on learning sessions on data collection, data cleaning, data exploration, data visualization, hypothesis testing and real-world applications.

They will also learn about artificial intelligence and statistical methods. Among those who will give lectures are domain experts and professors from the New York University and the Philippines.

Capping off the 2019 Summer Programs is a short course on Insect and Spider Taxonomy from June 24 to July 5.

Workshop fees will cover food, accommodations, and training materials, among others. For inquiries, call 524-4611 local 166.
