GCash activates platform for micro-donations for charities

By Ram Superable Agustin

Digital payment firm GCash has launched a new micro-donation platform called ?GCash for Good? that allows Filipinos to donate to a wide array of charities even while they’re on the go through the GCash app.

The new initiative was triggered by a study titled ?Global Trends in Giving? which revealed that more than half of individuals would prefer an online donating platform. In fact, there was 12.1% increase in donations via online last 2017.

According to ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation managing director Susan Afan, the ?GCash for Good? platform complements the kindness of Filipinos as a channel for giving.

“Our purpose for creating GCash for Good lies in our ardent desire to encourage generosity among Filipinos,” said Mynt president Anthony Thomas.

“We have a shared vision of creating a lasting long-term positive impact on the environment,” Thomas added, also mentioning that the project?s objectives are in line with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.

The donation platform has inked a partnership with Bantay Kalikasan, Haribon Foundation, World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF) and the Forest Foundation Philippines. GCash for Good is also seeking for other NGOs with advocacies in various fields.

“We believe that we should be working together for the better. With GCash for Good, we’re making change accessible and easier for everyone,? said Thomas.
