Household appliances company Dyson recently unveiled a suite of products that integrate both hardware and software in controlling and personalizing their users’ environments. Headlining the roster of new devices is the latest version of their cordless vacuum, the Dyson V11.
In a statement, Dyson founder and CEO James Dyson said they have been developing vacuums for over 25 years and have made sure that these machines evolve with the times. He pointed out their latest line is “a testament that their focus is not only on improving performance, but also adding intelligence in assisting the way people clean.”
Unlike its predecessors, the V11 now has an LCD screen that informs the user of its current performance mode among three options. There’s the Eco Mode (provides up to an hour of run time for longer cleans on all floor types), the Auto Mode (offers an optimized approach between power and run time while adapting to varying floor types), and the Boost Mode (for intensive cleaning via a powerful suction capability).
Aside from the power selection, then digital monitor also shows the remaining run time of the unit and the presence of blockages or connection issues with the filter.
In the speed of 1/8000 of a second, the Dyson V11’s three microprocessors are able to monitor self-performance housed in the Dynamic Load Sensor (DLS) module which sits inside the High Torque cleaner head, the digital monitor, and the battery. This enables its suction capabilities to automatically adjust on different floor types while the user is informed of the unit’s battery status.
Based on the company’s own benchmarking, the new model is able to provide a 20% more suction power than the previous Dyson Cyclone V10 and last a bit longer on a single full charge, even exceeding operating over the 60 minute threshold. The intelligent vacuum is also able to capture up to 99.97% of particles that go as small as 0.3 microns.
The Dyson V11 boasts of the DLS system, which enables adjusting the suction power between carpets and hard floors. This is done by detection of brush bar resistance of up to 1/360 a second amidst a constant communication between the motor and battery’s microprocessors. The cleaner head uses stiff nylon bristles and anti-static carbon fiber filaments that simultaneously remove ground-in dirt from carpets and dust particles from the nooks and crevices of hard floors.
The Dyson V11 Absolute Cordless Vacuum, which was launched alongside the Dyson Pure Cool Me personal purifying fan, costs P49,500. It’s available at the Dyson Demo at Greenbelt 5, SM Aura Premier, The Podium, and other electrical equipment distributors.
