Nokia unveils latest addition to mid-range line-up

The Nokia 7.2 — Nokia’s latest entry for the upper mid-range segment — was recently unveiled. It boasts of Zeiss Optics marketed with exclusive bokeh styles, a PureDisplay panel, stock Android experience, and the iconic premium build reflected in all their devices.

Alongside the launch was the introduction of the refreshed feature phone offerings, a segment that Nokia remains the leader of up to this day.

The Nokia 7.2 features a triple camera setup with an f/1.8 48MP main lens, a 5MP depth sensor for bokeh shots, and an 8MP wide-angle lens all powered by Zeiss Optics. Since HMD Global reserves Zeiss lenses to their upper mid-range and flagship devices, the 6.2 which has not yet been seen in the country, will not be backed by the same camera technology.

With an 82.4% screen-to-body ratio, the IPS LCD panel of the device measures 6.3 inches and has a pixel density of 400 pixels-per-inch (ppi) at a resolution of 1080×2280. Powering the 7.2 is a 3500mAh battery at 10W charging capacity.

The device runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 and Android 9 (Pie) . Spotted on the 7.2 is an audio jack, a dedicated Google Assistant button, notification LED on the power button, and NFC capability. It is also part of the guaranteed two years of OS upgrades and three years of monthly security updates.

“The Nokia 7.2 offers fans advanced tools to express their creativity and individuality, froM the Zeiss Optics modes and powerful AI imaging to the breathtaking PureDisplay technology. In combination with the beautifully patterned satin glass back, the Nokia 7.2 packs design innovation and stunning imaging performance with a two-day battery life in a smartphone for aspiring creators across the world at a truly incredible price,” said HMD Global’s chief product officer Juho Sarvikas.

“With the Nokia 7.2, we aim to push the limits on what fans can get from our popular Nokia 7 series,” he added.

Priced at P15,990, the Nokia 7.2 comes in a 6GB and 126GB RAM/ROM configuration in the Charcoal color variant this October 19 while the Cyan Green version arrives at a later date this month in all Nokia authorized resellers. On October 19 and 20, HMD Global will also be running a promo that entails a free Nokia phone for every purchase of the 7.2.

Meanwhile, the Nokia 2720 Flip with 4G capabilities brings a nostalgic feel with its 1.3-inch panel for the external side that displays notifications before flipping the phone to its 2.8-inch main panel to answer calls or messages. The device can handle HD VoLTE calls and can also browse the Web or act as a WiFi hotspot. The flip phone comes preloaded with WhatsApp and Facebook and costs P4,790.

The Nokia 110, on the other hand, is inclined towards the entertainment side with its built-in mp3 player and up to 32GB expandable memory via SD card. It has an 800mAh battery resulting to a standby time of 18 days. It is now available as well, and retails at P1,290.

According to HMD Global Philippines general manager Sancho Chak, the feature phones exhibit uncompromising quality they’re known for but at the lowest absolute price. The phones appeal to users who just want to stay connected.
