Retail giant Puregold has introduced its own mobile app that allows customers to simply scan the items in-store and skip the long lines by cashier checkout.

The minimum spending amount is P1000 for customers to be able to use the cart-less convenience feature of the app.

After downloading the app, users simply need to scan the barcodes of the products at home, or while in the store, and pick them up at the store. Customers can either pay at the store location, with a credit/debit card, or use GCash.

Since the app is branding itself as the new “Shopping Ally” for Filipinos, the in-app assistant has been aptly named as “SALLY.” The bot feature is able to provide answers to FAQs like the available payment methods, loyalty card linking method, order status tracking, and even resetting password.

Puregold has partnered with Globe Telecom for the mobile app. “The stuff that we have for Gcash inside Puregold is the best experience you can find in the Philippines. This is as leading edge as you get, and the only thing missing is the facial recognition to pay (security feature). We can already enable that, actually, and we have the technology,” Ernest Cu, Globe president and CEO said.

Cu also hinted that if Puregold is open to the concept of facial recognition feature, it will be the first to have it and pioneer the technology against the competition.

Although a delivery feature may still be in the works, members of Puregold Tindahan ni Aling Puring and PERKS can access their card details on the app to keep them updated on their points’ status.

As an added convenience, the app also allows reordering of a particular set of products which can be useful for SMEs or for homes with regular grocery supply needs.

Puregold Mobile is available for download at the App Store for iOS users and Google Play for Android, and has already reached more than a thousand downloads.
