Samsung Electronics has announced globally that they will be releasing Lite models for the Galaxy S and Note series, specifically, the Galaxy S10 Lite and Note 10 Lite. At a more accessible price point, the Korean firm is aiming to bring the specs and features found in their more premium offerings to lower-end versions.
In the local scene, there is no telling when the S10 Lite will be making its debut, but the Note 10 Lite is set to be available on Valentine’s Day. The device will come with the famed S Pen which is now with Bluetooth Low-Energy (BLE) support found in its series’ predecessors.
The display on the device is 6.7” FHD+ Super AMOLED Infinity-O panel with resolution set at 1080x2400p. The aspect ratio is 20:9 and pixel density is a high ~394 pixels-per-inch. It weighs a hefty 199g and uses a hybrid sim tray.
The Note 10 Lite will be running the One UI 2 platform based on the new Android 10.0 while being powered by a 10nm Octa-core Exynos 9810 SoC that is partnered by a Mali-G72 MP18 GPU. It comes equipped with a fairly large 8GB worth of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, expandable up to 1TB.
For photography and video-capturing needs, the device utilizes a triple rear camera setup. The lenses are all 12MP; an OIS-enabled wide lens with an aperture of f/1.7, an ultra-wide f/2.2 lens, and a telephoto shooter also with OIS.
Samsung obviously steered away from using EIS on this unit to improve stability that is more hardware reliant. Meanwhile, the front camera is a 32MP with an aperture of f/2.2.
Shooting 4K videos is possible even at 60FPS and can offer a 2X optical zoom. Photos are assisted by the usual PDAF and HDR functionalities, and the stock camera app is peppered with different shooting modes like Live Focus for bokeh-assisted videos, Scene Optimizer, and Super Steady Video mode.
Samsung also didn’t ditch the audio jack on the Note 10 Lite and the Type-C 1.0 port also supports reversible connection. Under the display is an optical fingerprint sensor for security as well as an NFC feature. Powering the device is a 25W fast charging 4500 non-removable Li-Po battery.
The Galaxy A71, similarly, has a 6.7” Infinity-O Super AMOLED Plus display, a 4500mAh battery with 25W charging, and a smaller 8nm Octa-core Snapdragon 730 chip. The A71 has an extra shooter making up its Quad Camera setup that is comprised of a 64MP main, a 12MP ultra-wide, a 5MP macro, and a 5MP depth sensor.
The Galaxy A71, retailing for P22,990, is already on its pre-order period until February 14 and available in three colors: Prism Crush Black, Prism Crush Blue, and Prism Crush Silver.
For the Galaxy Note 10 Lite, it is available in Aura Red, Aura Glow, and Aura Black. It has a price tag of P29,990.
