Gov’t opens one-stop shop for starting new business in PH

The Philippine government launched on Friday, Feb. 28, the National Business One-Stop Shop (NBOSS) at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) that integrates processes of different agencies in one location for applications for one-person corporations and partnerships.

ARTA director-general Jeremiah Belgica speaks during the launch of the National Business One-Stop Shop (NBOSS) at the PICC on Friday, February 28

NBOSS is a physical co-location for agencies related to starting a business including the Securities and Exchange Commission, Bureau of Internal Revenue, Social Security System, Philippine Health Insurance Corp., and Home Development Mutual Fund or Pag-ibig.

Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) director-general Jeremiah Belgica said the government aims to open more NBOSS locations in highly urbanized cities this year, following the physical co-location for Metro Manila.

According to ARTA, the NBOSS and the Central Business Portal that was developed by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) will improve the processing of business permits from 13 steps in 33 days to nine steps in seven days.

Department of Trade secretary Ramon Lopez said following the NBOSS launching is the automation of processes to further ease procedures in starting a business.

“It is in automation that we really experience ease of doing business,” he said. He said the online function of the NBOSS will further hasten procedures to only one day.

“We all want more investments. We all want more jobs to be created. And that’s why we improve ease of doing business,” Lopez said. –– Kris Crismundo (PNA)
