Michael Lacy, president of Digital Paradise Inc. (DPI), the company that operates Netopia, recently led the re-launch of Internet caf??s pioneering store that features the ?new Netopia? at Megaworld?s new Lucky Chinatown Mall in Binondo, Manila. Interestingly, Lacy?s profile said he joined Digital Paradise in the middle of 2011 with the task of re-launching of Netopia and introducing the Highlands Coffee brand from Vietnam into the Philippine market. ?Internet and Online communities have been part of Filipinos? lifestyle ? be it through Facebook, Twitter or online gaming websites. Coffee chains, on the other hand, have also been mushrooming especially in the metro. Now, Netopia pioneers a unique concept that re-invents these trends. With the new Netopia, Filipinos are up for a treat with our high-speed and convenient connections through Internet and caf? services, improving their Internet experience over a cup of coffee,? said Lacy. Along with the new services such as a menu of premier coffee and pastries from Highlands Coffee, the new Netopia also sports an all-new Internet caf? service that features modern aesthetics and functionality. Although it is still the country?s top Internet caf? operator with 116 outlets located across the country, the company has encountered bumps along the way that somehow diminished its dominance of the industry. Among its failed venture were the ill-advised expansion overseas and building overly expensive EGG (extreme gaming grounds) that did not take off the ground. The company, however, appears to be back on its feet and has divulged plans to open new outlets. It is also trying to transition to be a complete Internet caf? package by offering high-speed LAN and Wi-Fi services, aside from coffee and pastries. ]]>
