Second batch of Sweep scholars revealed

[/caption] Now on its second year, the scholarship under the Smart Wireless Engineering Education Program (Sweep) is open to all graduating IT/ECE students of partner schools nationwide. To apply for the program, a student must comply with a minimum grade requirement. Students also have to go through a panel interview. This year?s recipients are: Mark Jeric M. Austria, BS Computer Studies, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila Jeric is a consistent Dean?s Lister and an officer of the Computer Studies Student?s Circle. He describes himself as friendly and energetic. He loves reading especially books by Paolo Coelho, Mitch Albom and JK Rowling. He also loves watching movies and is particularly fascinated with vampires. Aubrey Rose P. Pinca, BS COE, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila Brey is the College of Engineering?s Top 2 Most Outstanding Student. This fashionista is into Hello Kitty stuff. She is also a camera enthusiast. She describes herself as down-to-earth and God-fearing. She said she gives 200 percent in everything she does, which is for her mom and her sister. Harold E. Calayan, BS COE, Polytechnic University of the Philippines Hero is a Math Quizzer since grade school. He has applied to become a Microsoft Student Partner. He is also a Math tutor. He is interested on mobile application development and has already developed applications for Windows Phone 7, Android Ice Cream sandwich 4.0, Blackberry and Jquery Mobile. Dianne V. Avenido, BS COE, Polytechnic University of the Philippines Dye is a member of the Association of Concerned Computer Engineering Students for Services, and the Institute of Computer Engineers of the Philippines. She wants to specialize in Computer Ethical Hacking, which she says is a very promising field given the need to secure and protect Internet data from hackers. Kristoffer Medel S. Ramirez IV, BS ECE, Polytechnic University of the Philippines Toff is currently the President of the Electronics Engineering Student Society. This proud Isabelino is the youngest of four. He does a lot of reading about emerging technologies and related fields. He considers microcontroller programming a hobby too. Carl Arvin T. Pantino, BS ECE, Polytechnic University of the Philippines Carl won first place in the Engineering Math Wizard College Quiz Bee for four straight years since 2009. He is fun-loving and an eternal optimist. He loves to play musical instruments such as the guitar, piano, violin, flute and rondalya. He has this unique gift of being able to play these instruments ?by ear.? Elidy Lecsie G. Balmes, BS ECE, Polytechnic University of the Philippines Lei is the vice chairman of her school?s Commission on Student Organizations and Accreditation. She describes herself as an optimist, perfectionist and a loving daughter. She also loves books on electronics, and that of fiction writers like Sidney Sheldon. She is also interested in entrepreneurship. Rhegine Raymond P. Calderon, BS ECE, Technological University of the Philippines-Manila Jin is a consistent Dean?s Lister since his freshman year in college. He is business minded, pro-earth, adventurous, systematic, resourceful, innovative and creative. He has written a poem ?A Name Which Is Mine,? which he posted on his FB account. Chiara Celine T. Hernandez, BS ECE, Technological University of the Philippines-Manila Chiara is a consistent honor student since grade school. She is currently the Assistant Treasurer of the Graduating Class and is a member of the IECEP-MSC. She finds most interesting the newest communication gadgets. She is also into music, movies, books and a number of TV series. Arthur Christopher A. Belmonte, BS CS, University of Makati Art is a Dean?s Lister since 2010. He also bagged top honors in Java Programming during the Infotechnolympics 2011 in his school. He is a jolly person and always wants people around him to be happy too. He likes programming and playing role playing games. He is the keyboardist for his church. Jeck N. Mabasa, BS CS, University of Makati Jeck is candidate for Cum Laude. He is also the champion in C++ programming during the IT Olympics 2010. His interests include listening to rock music and playing computer or mobile games. He also loves to cook and is a volunteer catechist in his church. Graychelle C. Isidro, BS ECE, Bataan State Peninsula University Graychelle is the champion of the IECEP Central Luzon Student Chapter Quiz Show. She loves C-based programming. On her spare time, she reads and sings. She is that kind of person who can?t go through the day without her mobile phone. Danilo H. Mariano, BS ECE, Batangas State University Dani describes himself as a person that is fun to be with, is hard-working and very family-oriented. He is also a sports fanatic. He is juggling his time between working on his group?s thesis and his On-the-Job Training for Smart Batangas. Jacklyn I. Untalan, BS ECE, Batangas State University Jackie is the first placer for the IECEP-Calabarzon Quiz Show held last year. She is also the Secretary for the Junior Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines since 2010. She?s not all brains as she was also crowned beauty queen of her barangay. Charissa Mae L. Mamangun, BS ECE, Bulacan State University Mad is running for Magna Cum Laude. She is the IECEP National Quiz Bee Group Champion last year. She describes herself as simple, cheerful and responsible. Like any other mortals, she loves reading, going out with friends, eating and chatting. Louieanne C. Angeles, BS ECE, Bulacan State University L.A. is a Dean?s Lister. She is also President of her class. She is a varsity player representing her college and barangay. She was awarded Artist and Journalist of the Year in High School. She is a fan of animes especially, One Piece. She is a part-time student assistant and part-time tutor. Shirley May D. Guevarra, BS ECE, Bulacan State University Shirley is also gunning for Magna Cum Laude. She is the President of her class and is an IECEP quizzer. She is interested in activities that are related to her subjects, like data communications, which includes networking. Diana Rose Tambogon, BS COE, Mariano Marcos State University Diane is a consistent honor student in elementary and high school. She is also Vice President for Youth in the church where she attends. She is hard-working and is fully dedicated in her pursuits. She is into PCB designing, repairing computer hardware, and exploring computer programming language. Jetzer P. Leyson, BS IT, Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology Jet is also a Dean?s Lister and was former Vice President of Dean?s Listers/Academic Honorific Society. He is now Deputy Treasurer of CICT Department. He loves to draw and reads fiction as well as articles in the Internet in his spare time. Gayzel P. Dolor, BS ECE, Mindanao State University-General Santos Zel is an honor student in elementary and high school. She serves as Secretary for the Organization of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Students in MSU-GenSan. She describes herself as cheerful, sweet and kind. She likes reading, solving problems and going on adventures. Errol Karl M. Gumagay, BS ECE, University of Southeastern Philippines Karl is first runner-up for the Bit the Bees School Quiz Show and currently serves as Board Member for the Association of Electronics and Communications Engineering Students. He said Smart not only gave him a scholarship but also his first airplane ride and first trip to Manila. Silvestre A. Muring, BS ECE, University of Southeastern Philippines Bhodz is fifth among eight siblings and supplements his family?s income by handling tutorials for engineering and math subjects. He finds interesting computer hardware and software trouble shooting and applications as well as computer networking. ]]>
