PH gov?t, ITU launch ICT statistics portal

[/caption] The Philippine ICT Statistics Portal (PHICTS), according to its proponents, will be the first stop in data analysis and visualization. Data provided are collected and authenticated by committed teams from different government agencies solely dedicated to gather hard to find ICT-related data in the Philippines. PHICTS portal will be maintained and updated as often as possible to give reliable and consistent data for various purposes, the ICTO said. The portal was also developed in collaboration with the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (Namria) to provide GIS mapping capability and better data visualization. Data on the site are sourced from partners, namely, the National Statistics Coordinating Board (NSCB), National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), National Statistics Office (NSO) and the University of the Philippines Information Technology Development Center (UPITDC). Currently, data available on PHICTS include residential broadband statistics, market statistics for voice, mobile and data, and other government ICT-related data. ?The portal aims to provide linkages with statistics-gathering agencies in the country as well as international research bodies. In addition to numbers, graphs and matrices, the portal will be a platform to publish quick reference to describe ICT situation in the country as well as analytical reports that will prove useful to technocrats and netizens,? DOST-ICTO executive director Louis Casambre said during the launch. ICT statistics from various sectors like e-health, education, gender, telecommunications, cyber-services, e-commerce, e-government, cyber-security, business process outsourcing, e-entertainment will be available on the portal. ]]>
