DepEd secretary Armin A. Luistro said the ICT-based pilot school project is part of the department?s thrust to prime students for 21st-century education. ?This is the Information Age and the better we are ICT-equipped, the better we can prepare our students for the future,? he added. The agreement allows MEST to remodel the PNHS classroom to make it an innovative ICT-based pilot classroom. It will be augmented by teaching materials support and relevant training for the teachers and students. ?Also included is the curriculum design, contents for teaching-learning ICT and other ICT management system,? Luistro explained. The material resources support to be provided by MEST will include personal computers, Web server, digital lecterns, electronic blackboards and other Web-based equipment. DepEd, for its part, will provide the teachers, rooms, electrical power and Internet access. The agreement has a validity of three years and may be extended upon mutual consent. The parties may also expand the program to develop other ICT-based classrooms in primary and secondary schools. ]]>
