To support these budding technopreneurs and their garage operations in discovering new talents, Developer?s Connect Philippines and Xavier School Next Lab is hosting a Code Challenge Cup (C-Cup) this November 30 at the Xavier School Greenhills to help unearth and recognize rising developers. It will be held in the Xavier Greenhill High School Multi-purpose Hall (HS MPH), from 1:00PM to 9:00PM. C-Cup aims to help spur critical thinking and highlight problem-solving strategies under pressure. The event is patterned after the world-renowned International Collegiate Programming Contest organized by Association for Computing Machinery. The ACM-ICPC is the oldest, largest, and most prestigious programming contest in the world. Hardcore IT ceeks considers it to be the ?Olympics of computer programming?. C-Cup is a hybrid between a rigid algorithm programming competition and the dexterity of a hackathon. It will be a 6-hour competition where teams of three programmers will be asked to solve 10 problems using a myriad of programming languages of their preference, and in the comforts of their trusted computer workstations:

? C ? C# ? C++ ? Java ? JavaScript ? PHP ? Python ? Ruby ? VB.NET

Winners will be determined by the most problem solved in the fastest time. The total time is the sum of the time consumed for each problem solved including a 20 penalty minutes for every rejected run for the problem. Victorious teams will receive medals and trophies, with a cash prize of P15,000 (as of this writing) given to the overall champion. There are also categories for high school and college students. Individual contest shirts plus free-flowing refreshments and grub will keep the participants company, while they pour it on for six hours of coding, analysis and troubleshooting. The event hopes to help pump-prime analytical thinking grounded on scientific methods in today?s youths to mold them into future engineers that will one-day become world class entrepreneurs via DevCon?s Engineer-to-Entrepreneur (E2E) vision. C-Cup is co-presented by Globe Labs, Accenture Philippines and Ideaspace Foundation. Smart DevNet and Chikka Philippines are the Platinum Sponsor while Sulit.com.ph is a Titanium Sponsor. Community partners include WebGeek PH, Orange & Bronze, Mozilla Philippines, SG Entrepreneurs, WhenInManila.com, and Manila Talks.
