Although billed as virtual events, a meet-up organized by the Philippine BlackBerry Developer Group (PinoyBBdev) will take place on Jan. 12, from 9am to 6pm, at the Globe Corporate Showroom in Makati City, where developers can consult with BlackBerry technical experts, test their apps on BlackBerry Dev Alpha devices, and collaborate with fellow developers. The BlackBerry Port-A-Thons offer exciting rewards for those who will port their apps and submit them to BlackBerry World within the duration of the events. Android developers will get $100 for every approved app, up to a maximum of $2,000 per vendor. Those who submit five or more apps will also be eligible to participate in a random draw for BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha Devices. Meanwhile, developers who use Web frameworks such as Sencha, jQuery, and PhoneGap, as well as other platforms such as Qt, C/C++, Appcelerator, Maramalade, etc. will also get $100 for every approved app, up to a maximum of $2,000 per vendor. The first 200 developers to port five to nine approved apps will also get BlackBerry Dev Alpha devices, while the first ten developers to port ten or more approved apps will also get free trips to BlackBerry Jam Europe in Amsterdam, Netherlands on February 5-6. Those who do not manage to be one of the first to submit their apps can still join a raffle for a BlackBerry Dev Alpha or a trip to BlackBerry Jam Europe. Prizes from Globe Labs are also available for those who attend the meet-up and port the most number of apps. Registration for the two BlackBerry Port-a-thons and the PinoyBBDev meet-up is free. ]]>
