[/caption] The metered parking is an initiative of the Manila Parking Management (Mapma), the private contractor tasked of installing the parking meters in the city. The Manila city government will have a share of the revenues that will be generated by the new parking system, according to reports. The first set of the metered parking devices are located along Ongpin and Escolta in Binondo district. Motorists will have to purchase reloadable tap cards from Mapma personnel in order to use the parking meters. Mayor Alfredo S. Lim said that parking meter fees, like in the United States, Europe, and Canada, are cheaper compared to fees in private parking spaces. Motorists will be P20 for the first two hours, according to Lim. Meanwhile, Lim said that if the project will be successful and will be well-accepted by the public, the city government will continue it in other areas of the city. ? PIA, NCR ]]>
