[/caption] A portion of Padre Faura Street was closed down as anti-riot policemen stood guard on the SC premises. With the main courtroom already full of attendees, SC personnel put up a couple of wide-screen projectors which broadcast the proceedings live. The oral arguments centered mainly on questionable provisions of the law, among them on online libel, privacy of data, and prior restraint on freedom of expression. The legal counsels of the petitioners against the Cybercrime Law were given the opportunity to present their case. The speakers included UP law professors Harry Roque and Jesus Disini, and Bayan Muna party-list representative Neri Colmanares. The proceedings were the first oral arguments presided by Chief Justice Ma. Lourdes Sereno since being named to the post. The Office of the Solicitor General, the government?s legal counsel, will present its counter-arguments on Tuesday, Jan. 22. ]]>
