By Rizal Raoul Reyes South Korean technology behemoth LG Electronics recently launched its new line-up of appliances that included Smart TVs as well as refrigerators and washing machine that feature inverter technology. The company said an inverter linear compressor prevents mechanical loss by utilizing singe friction point driving the piston as compared to the conventional compressor which works on four friction points. LG said the system is also designed to maintain a steady temperature that ensures stored food products stay fresh and safe for consumption. ?Our inverter linear refrigerators are powerful machines and yet they are 41-percent more energy efficient than conventional models. So with our Smart appliances, not only are you able to do little good for the environment, you also get substantial energy savings,? said Sheryl Tayag, product manager of LG Electronics Home Appliances, in a press statement. LG also launched the large-capacity washing machine models. Tayag said the washing machines are fitted with the inverter direct drive on its front-load and top-load washing machines. The technology boosts the motor?s efficiency, thus minimizing breakdowns. Tayag said each of the inverter technology-based refrigerators and washing machines come with a 10-year warranty. The company also introduced its newest split residential air conditioner with its advanced inverter technology. LG said the newest air conditioner can deliver up to 69-percent energy savings and provide clean freshness with its 3M Micro Protection Filter. Its Plasmater Ionizer provides health benefits as its two million ions sterilize not only the air passing through the device, but also the surrounding harmful substances. But the start the launch event was the Smart TV line-up, which included the LG 84LM 9600, claimed by the company as the world?s first 84-inch ultra HD 3D television. The new television is touted to deliver four times higher resolution than full HD. It has a 50W audio coming from a 2.2 speaker system. The 2013 TV array promises easier content access and sharing through Smart Control with its enhanced Smart Home and Magic Remote. The new Smart Home onscreen interface features My Interest Cards ? a special folder for apps and other content ? which provides quick access to what?s trending on news sites as well as up-to-the-minute weather information. My Interest Cards can be customized according to the needs and preferences of the user. The Magic Remote has been redesigned to fine-tune content and menu navigation. With the same point, wheel, gesture and voice recognition as the earlier Magic Remotes, LG added Voice Mate, a voice control technology that recognizes executes voice commands. The SmartShare feature allows users to mirror or transfer content from smart devices to LG Smart TVs through various connectivity options such as WiDi and Miracast. For speedy media sharing, the new Tag On feature immediately connects two devices when the user simply holds a smartphone or any NFC-enabled device against the NFC sticker on the Cinema 3D Smart TV.
