[/caption] In an advisory, the DepEd urged the public to visit instead its temporary site, its Facebook page, or its the DETxt hotline at 636-1663 or 633-1942 for updates and issuances. Taiwanese hackers engaged their Filipino counterparts in an online skirmish over the death of a Taiwanese fisherman, who was killed onboard a vessel that allegedly intruded in Philippine waters near Batanes. A ship jointly operated by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) strafed the Taiwanese fishing boat, resulting in the death of the fisherman. Malacanang has already suspended the personnel of the PCG-BFAR ship pending investigation amid demands by the Taiwanese government for a formal apology. Earlier, the Comelec website was also paralyzed by hackers, making it difficult for the public to track down the results of the elections. The site, however, has now been restored. ]]>
