Lenovo brings in its first LTE smartphone to PH

By Tom Noda Lenovo has finally entered the LTE smartphone market in the Philippines with the formal launching of its premium smartphone — the Lenovo Vibe Z. The LTE smartphone, which was first showcased at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas last January, is now locally available with a retail price of P24,999. He likewise introduced a new suite of applications for smartphones and tablets. The Vibe Z comes with a custom-imaging software and a 13 MP rear camera with a f1.8 aperture lens to defy low light situations and a 5 MP front camera that?s equipped with an 84-degree lens for wide-angle shots. Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core 2.2GHz processor, Vibe Z boasts of data uploading speeds at up to 50 Mbit/s1 and downloading at up to 150 Mbit/s1. Rojo said Vibe Z is designed to cater for data hungry users as the device, which runs on Android 4.3, is loaded with 2 GB of memory and has up to 16 GB of internal storage. It is also embedded with a 3,000mAh battery that offers up to 33 hours of talk time and 27 days standby. Rojo added that aside from features, what further differentiates the Vibe Z to other smartphones is on the embedded Lenovo-specific software supporting motion and gestures for one-handed usage on a 5.5-in full high definition (1920×1080) IPS wide angle viewing touchscreen display. Images appear sharp, leveraging the Vibe Z?s 20/20 Vision display with a pixel density of 400 pixels per inch. The Vibe Z also operates on GSM/UMTS networks up to 2100 and also comes with 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0. It promises holding comfort with its laser-etched, fabric-feel rear cover. Rojo noted the Philippines is a very important market for Lenovo as the country is looking into a healthy ICT spending this year. He cited a recent study by IDC which showed a continuing growth rate of smartphone purchases in the country with 22-percent expected increase in 2014. Among the new suite of premium apps introduced at the Vibe Z launch are the five DOit apps series called SHAREit, SECUREit, SYNCit, SNAPit Camera, and the SEEit Gallery, which are all designed to help users manage information on their smartphones and tablets. ]]>
