Telpad, which Tang said is the only tablet-landline hybrid product in the world, has over 100,000 subscribers nationwide to date. The impressive numbers, he said, is the reason why PLDT is currently negotiating with other hardware companies for the manufacture of the units. Chinese tech firm Huawei is currently the sole supplier of the Telpad. Along with the quad-core version, PLDT also announced in the briefing the updated content that the new Telpad offers. This includes songs from Spinnr (powered by Smart Music), video games from EA Games, new movies from Clickplay, news and information from News5 Everywhere, and additions to Filipino soaps, Asianovelas, and Tagalized animes on MyPinoyTV. It was also announced that more content will soon be introduced on the Telpad. Around the corner are educational applications, digital newspapers, magazines and textbooks, and more applications for entertainment. Also on the horizon is the adoption to the Telpad of an updated hey?, PLDT?s Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) service app that is set to introduce new features soon. As for the unit, PLDT said quad-core Telpad can now handle multiple tasks at once, better graphics, and enhanced functionality for the latest apps. The new Telpad units also run on the Android 4.1.2 Jellybean operating system. ]]>
