?Oscars? of data center industry seeks achievers in APAC region

datacenter The DCD Awards has been recognizing innovation, leadership and ?out-of-the-box? thinking in the data center industry since its launch in London in 2007. Since then, it has been held in EMEA, North America, Latin America, Brazil, Japan, and the Greater China Region. This year, DCD brings the awards to APAC, one of the world?s fastest growing regions, to recognize the best of the industry in Southeast Asia, Japan, Greater China, ANZ and India. By recognizing the organizations, ideas, people and projects that have helped advance the industry, the awards aims to highlight initiatives, knowledge and best practices to help data centers become more energy efficient, environmentally friendly and cost effective. To ensure the objectivity of the judgment process, DCD has assembled an independent judging panel of data center experts, including:

? Scott Noteboom, who was principal data center engineering strategist for Yahoo and Apple

? Dr. Robert Sullivan, creator of the concept of hot aisle and cold aisle for data centers

? Philip Collerton, managing director for EMEA at Uptime Institute

? Zhu Hua, director for data center planning at Tencent

APAC Awards chief judge, Zhong Jinghua, deputy chief engineer at China Electronics Engineering Design Institute, said: ?The DCD Awards is significant. Not only is it a credible platform to celebrate the achievements of the industry, it serves as an industry benchmark for best practices by adopting scientific and impartial evaluation methods.? Organizations that have previously received recognition in other regions include Digital Realty, Equinix, Facebook, Munters, Colt, CITI Bank, IBM, NTT, China Mobile, China Unicom and Huawei across various categories covering Future Thinking & Design Concepts, Data Center Blueprint, Innovation in Data Center Design and Build, Outsourcing and Energy Efficiency. The DCD 2014 Asia Pacific Awards is now open for entries, with a submission deadline of 11 July. Category winners will be revealed on 17 October at DCD?s Gala Award Ceremony in Singapore.
