By Tom Noda LG Philippines has formally launched in the local market its new flagship smartphone, the LG G3, which is serving as the successor to the highly successful G2 that was launched in September last year. The G3 also came in less than three months after the release of the G Pro 2 phablet and LG G2 Mini last April in the country. G3 was first introduced globally last May 28. g3a LG Philippines gathered company executives, celebrity product ambassadors at the Enderun Tent in Bonifacio Global City to officially launch G3 on Tuesday, July 1. LG Electronics Philippines managing director Sung Woo Nam said the G3 was developed with the motto “Simple is the new smart” in mind. “The LG G3 has received early praise from international and local industry experts for innovations in its display, camera, design and user experience features,” Sung said, referring to G3’s Floating Arc shape, Quad HD display, a 13-megapixel camera, and new smarter UX or user experience features not found in previous LG smartphones. At 5.5 inches, G3’s Quad HD display with a pixel density of 538ppi is said to produce images sharper and more vivid than Full HD displays. It also boasts of a screen ratio of 76.4 percent with thin bezels all around to maximize its eye-candy display. LG G3 is available in all LG dealers nationwide and comes in 16GB and 32GB variants priced at P22,990 and P33,990, respectively. It is offered in four colors black, white, gold, and red. g3b Qualcomm Philippines chief Mantosh Malhotra said the G3 is one of the first devices powered by the new Snapdragon 801 processor, a 2.5GHz quad-core solution that builds upon the popular Snapdragon 800 system on chip with several new features designed to improve user experience and overall performance. “This includes H.265 video support, solutions that support higher speed SD card memory, a higher speed camera interface along with other enhancements that improve imaging performance,” Malhotra said. LG G3’s 13MP camera features a combination of Optical Image Stabilization Plus (OIS+) for clear photos despite shaky hands and low-light settings, the world’s first Laser Auto Focus for fast and accurate auto-focusing, and Dual LED Flash for vibrant images and balanced colors. A ?Touch and Shoot? feature on the display was also put in, recommended especially for taking “selfies” by simply clenching one’s fist for the G3 to recognize and automatically shoot. Among G3’s smarter UX features include the Smart Keyboard, Smart Notice, and Smart Security. The last feature offers several enhanced security features like the trademark Knock Code, which enables users to wake and unlock their device just by knocking a customized code; the Content Lock which keeps personal files safe and hidden from view when sharing the G3 with others; and the Kill Switch which gives the owners the ability to disable their phones remotely in case of theft. G3 LG Philippines has higher expectations with the LG G3 as the Korean electronics giant is hoping to sustain its standing as the number two smartphone brand in the market. “Since its global reveal in six cities ? London, San Francisco, Singapore, Seoul, New York, and Istanbul ? last May 28, the LG G3 is hitting triple of the LG G2 sales last year,” said LG Philippines’s Mobile division vice president Lawrence Kim. “And that was only since five weeks ago. Now that the LG G3 has arrived in the Philippines, we are ready to maximize the market share of the premium mobile user segment, especially with all the industry-leading features and game-changing innovations it encompasses.” ]]>
