sanremigiocec The San Remigio Community e-Center is now dubbed the center for research and development on Movable and Deployable ICT Resource Unit (MDRU), a collaboration of the Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Co. (NTT) of Japan, the Central Visayas Information System Network Foundation (CVISNET), the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), and the San Remegio municipal government. The technology from Japan is the first to be implemented in the Philippines, according to DOST 7 director Edilberto L. Paradela said. San Remegio mayor Mariano Martinez said the project is timely, considering that the municipality was damaged severely by super typhoon Yolanda last November 2013. The town hosts the pilot rural Community e-Center in the Visayas, which was first established in 2004 by the Commission on Information and Communications Technology-National Computer Center and has been in operation since 2005. The project aims to connect the municipal hall with the barangay halls, government hospitals, health centers, public schools, municipal police office, military detachments, fire departments, and emergency response units along with the other allied offices. — PNA ]]>
