PH captures first gold in tough China math contest

According to the juror, this year?s contest questions were the most difficult in the past 12 years,? said team leader Simon Chua, president of the Mathematics Trainers Guild-Philippines, who accompanied the two students to the contest. Chua said a total of 33 gold medalists, 47 silver medalists and 66 bronze medalists were awarded in the CWMI, which drew 210 contestants this year. The contestants came from China, Indonesia, Hongkong, Macau, Singapore, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia and the Philippines. Last July, Patupat and Ang won gold medals in the 2014 Korea International Mathematics Competition last July. Ang won gold medals in the Bulgaria International Mathematics Competition held in July last year and in the Asia Inter-Cities Teenagers Mathematics Olympiad (AITMO) held last December in Indonesia. Patupat won a gold medal in the International Mathematics Contest in Singapore in August 2013.]]>
