Credit: Credit:[/caption] Under Department Order 2015–008 requires airport taxis to be equipped with a Global Positioning System (GPS) device and an on-board electronic taxi fare payment device. The installation of the electronic taxi fare payment device, the DOTC said, will allow passengers to pay for their fare with a credit or debit card. The DOTC circular also calls for operators to have an online facility for booking and dispatching by means of a smartphone-based application. Airport taxis currently operating are required to incorporate these new features in the months to come, according to the DOTC document. There are currently 615 airport-accredited taxis operating at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. ]]>
