In impressive showing, PH kids reap medals in 2 China math contests

[/caption] In the 12th China Southeast Mathematical Olympiad (CSMO) held in Fujian, China, the Philippine team won two gold, one silver, and two bronze medals, and two merit awards. On the other hand, Filipino students wound up overall first runner-up and bagged 23 individual medals in the 2015 China International Mathematics Competition (CIMC) held in Changchun City in Jilin, China. The 32-member delegation also took home three champion titles, four first runner-up and nine second runner-up trophies in the team and group contests and six merit awards. ?Our students have shown again their excellence in math in the two contests. We are very proud that they have brought home honor to the country,? said Dr. Simon Chua, president of the Mathematics Trainers Guild-Philippines (MTG). The winners in the 12th China Southeast Mathematical Olympiad (CSMO) are: Gold medals Shaquille Wyan Que – Grace Christian College Albert John Patupat – Holy Rosary College Silver medals Clyde Wesley Ang – Chiang Kai Shek College Bronze medals Adam Christopher Chan – Grace Christian College Luke Matthews Bernardo – Philadelphia High School Merit awards John Aries Ceazar Hingan – San Beda College-Alabang Xuanye Li – Xavier School The team leader of the Philippine delegation is James Kelvin Martin of MTG. Philippine Team A of Jan Hazel Ragudo, Palomar, Perez and Uy, and Philippine Team D of Jodi Marcia Arcadio, Chua, Lim and Tan bagged two second-runner up prizes each. Philippine Team C of Gan, Ng, Sia and Ty won first and second runners-up trophies. In the high school division, Philippine Team B of Banzon, King, Santiago and Tsai and Philippine Team C of Isidro, Torres, Ty and Wang grabbed champion and first runner-up trophies. Winning two second runner-up trophies each are Philippine Team A of Eason Wong, Chan, Gonzales and Shao, and Philippine Team D of Ching, Chua, Guevara and Tagupa. ]]>
