Samsung Galaxy Note7 has iris scanner; will arrive in PH on Aug. 20

Usman South Korean technology giant Samsung Electronics recently held an ?unpacking? event in which the glamorous global launch of the Galaxy Note7 smartphone in New York was live-streamed to the local media gathered at the SM Aura at the Bonifacio Global City. The smartphone will be available in the country starting Aug. 20. Rhinn Piczon, head of marketing and information technology, said the local technology community is ?excited? on the arrival of the Galaxy Note7. Aside from new capabilities of the S Pen, he said the device is also water-proof and features breakthrough technologies such as the iris scanner. “We believe it will gonna shake up the market even more, especially the second half of the year. We started strong in the first half with the Galaxy S7, and now we are following it with our breakthrough product with the Note7,” Piczon said. The company official said the Galaxy Note7 marks the first time that Samsung embedded in its devices the iris scanner, which is designed for security with a fast interface. Piczon said the Note7 “is the perfect device for productivity, definitely, especially for those business professionals out there. Powering a robust ecosystem, it is the ideal device for those who want to achieve more in life,” he said in a statement. The new S Pen, officials noted, has a smaller 0.7mm tip and improved pressure sensitivity that provides a real pen-like experience. The Galaxy Note7 also comes with the Samsung Knox, a security platform that provides heightened security and privacy, with highly advanced biometric authentication, including fingerprint scanner and iris scanning technology. The Galaxy Note7 also offers more authentication options that can be used interchangeably depending on how people use their phones. It also has Secure Folder, a separated folder that adds an extra layer of authentication to keep private and personal information safe. The Galaxy Note7 will also support Samsung Pass, bringing authentication such as iris scanning and fingerprint recognition to more apps and services. The smartphone features a curved 5.7-inch QHD Super AMOLED screen and is ready to stream HDR video. It also features Game Pack, available through Google Play, including top game titles, an easier redemption process, and new user benefits. By pairing the Galaxy Note7 with the new Gear VR powered by Oculus, users can also experience premium virtual reality almost anywhere. “The Galaxy Note7 can be used with the new high-resolution (3840×1920) Gear 360 camera, to capture, edit and share 360-degree images videos on the go.
