Lufthansa opens BPO center in PH, aims to hire 440 staff members

LSP is aiming to employ 440 workers by 2018. It will provide services in financial and revenue accounting, human resources and procurement, and customer service for Lufthansa Group passengers. Separately, LGBS will be hiring another 250 consultants for purely financial accounting services, while an additional 190 customer service consultants will be hired by Lufthansa InTouch (LH InTouch). Known as Europe?s largest aviation group, Lufthansa Group is comprised of Lufthansa Airlines, Swiss Airlines, and Austrian Airlines (AUA), plus Eurowings. At the inauguration of the LSP at EON Center in Alabang, Muntinlupa City, AUA CEO Kay Kratky cited the Philippines? growing reputation as a business location. ?Lufthansa Group is strengthening its footprint in Southeast Asia, particularly in the Philippines. We already have the Lufthansa Group passenger airline sales office, Lufthansa Technik Philippines (LTP) and now, we are very pleased to welcome Lufthansa Services Philippines,? Kratky said. ?Manila is now an attractive business location due to its excellent academic educational system, communication infrastructure, and extensive business know-how in the service industry,? the executive added. Kratky revealed that the opening of the 4,000-square meter BPO center is an expression of “our trust and confidence in the Philippines.? As of September the service already has 100 personnel. Among those who attended the inauguration was 95-year-old Washington Z. Sycip, chairman of LTP, and LSP head Sharmini Krishnan. Krishnan expressed confidence that the Manila-based service center will have over 440 staff members by the middle of 2018, who will have the opportunity to work for one of Europe’s leading aviation groups. “Additionally, we are also looking into providing comprehensive accounting services and other business process scope in the near future by recruiting highly skilled consultants catering to different demographics,” said Krishnan. Upon its full operation the LSP, it will be rendering most of its services on a 24-hour basis. Lufthansa Group operates in the country through the LTP, a joint venture of Lufthansa Technik AG and MacroAsia Corp., covering various services such as aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul services to customers around the world. Lufthansa Technik has been operating in the Philippines since 2000 a Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) stations in Manila, positioning themselves as Asia’s first choice MRO provider.
