It is the first-of-its-kind mobile app for digital citizen engagement powered by Voyager Innovations, the digital inventions unit of PLDT and Smart. ?As we celebrate our founding anniversary, we also look to the future as the city that sets the pace of the country ? and that includes engaging our Makati City residents at the speed of digital through the MakatiZen app,? said Makati City mayor Abigail Binay during the launch. The app has four basic features or benefits for city residents: MakaGimik, MakaRide, MakaShopping, and MakaNegosyo. MakaGimik provides them with the latest announcements on Makati?s programs and events. MakaRide allows the city?s government employees to instantly book a ride on Makati?s point to point shuttle service. Meanwhile, MakaShopping is an online marketplace where residents can shop, get exclusive discounts, and have their purchases delivered right at their doorstep. MakaShopping marketplace is powered by Voyager?s e-commerce platform, Takatack. Rounding up MakatiZen?s exciting and practical benefits is MakaNegosyo which provides information on why putting up a business or investing in Makati City is a good idea and on how to start a venture in the country?s premier financial district. ?We want Makati not just to be a premier city. We want Makati also to become a smart city,? said Binay. ?We look forward to serving our constituents better and faster through this new platform that gives them the power to actively participate using their mobile phones.? MakatiZen will deliver even more features and benefits to Makati City residents soon, the proponents said. First of all, the app is set to be launched on iOS as well. It will also become more interactive. According to Binay, any small businessman in Makati, whether he is selling tinapa (smoked fish), bagoong (fermented fish/shrimp paste), handicraft, or whatever, can eventually sell his wares and services online. Plus, people will also get the chance to air their grievances through the app. ?Digital extends access to the unserved and underserved, and levels the playing field for all,? said Voyager Innovations, president and CEO Orlando B. Vea. There are also plans to incorporate Waze for traffic updates which will inform motorists where they can pass to make them get to their destination faster. ?Local government units like Makati are fast opening doors for bringing wider access to the digital economy through digital inclusion efforts such as the MakatiZen app,? said PLDT, Smart, and Voyager chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan. MakatiZen is a product of a collaboration between public-private partnership proponent Neo-Converge ICT Solutions, and Voyager Innovations. ]]>
